What inspired you to write Fantah?
Question: What inspired you to write Fantah?
Answer: This novel was inspired by the rich cultural history of Northern Nigeria. Fantah and Hayah are fictional characters but reflect real emotional journeys.
Question: What themes do you explore in your novel "Fantah"?
Answer: "Fantah" weaves together themes of cultural identity, love, adventure, and the complex social structures of Northern Nigeria. Through the journeys of Fantah (a Bororo girl) and Hayah (a princess), I explore the intersections of tradition and modernity, privilege and marginalization, and personal destiny.
Question: What inspired you to become a writer?
Answerer: From a young age, I found solace and expression in writing. Growing up in Nigeria, I was surrounded by rich oral traditions and compelling stories that ignited my imagination. My first poetry collection, "With Love," was a natural outpouring of my thoughts and emotions during my university years.
Question: How do you balance creative writing with academic research?
Answer: I see both as complementary expressions of my interests. My fiction allows me to explore human experiences and cultural narratives creatively, while my academic work addresses real-world issues through structured research. Both require deep thinking and storytelling, just in different forms.
