Stillness

Not the absence of motion,

But the presence of everything.

Waiting—

The held breath before the dive,

The pause between heartbeats,

The moment when the pendulum hangs,

Perfectly balanced before surrendering to gravity.

In this space, we find what moves

When nothing seems to move at all.

From my Ripples Collection 2025

Hadiza Bagudu is a Fulani-Nigerian author, poet, and storyteller born and raised in Yola, Adamawa State. Her work is deeply rooted in the landscapes, languages, and traditions of Northern Nigeria.

Her debut novel Fantah draws from her own experiences growing up in a rich multicultural household — her father was Nupe from Niger State, and her grandmother was married to the chief of Madagali.

She is also the author of the poetry collection With Love, featuring poems on love, inspiration, life, and humor.
